Maitantbikes: This is our history
Maitantbikes is the materialization of a dream that combines two personal passions: the bicycle and a privileged natural environment with the starting point in Sort.
My name is Stavros, I was born in Greece, and today I am lucky to live and work in one of the most spectacular places in the Pyrenees: the Pallars Sobirà, a land of imposing mountains, infinite paths and wild nature. From a very young age, my life has been linked to bicycles. I started with pure passion and ended up transforming this love of cycling into a way of life.
My favorite discipline is enduro, a modality that has not only given me unforgettable moments, but also prompted me to train as an instructor and certified guide by the PMBAI (Professional Mountain Bike Instructors Association International). Thanks to this training, I can guarantee safe, exciting and adapted outings at all levels, from beginners to experienced riders looking for technical and challenging routes.
But my passion for bikes goes far beyond handlebars. I am fascinated by mechanics, engineering, adaptability. That’s why I decided to specialize in this field too and obtained the official certification in bicycle mechanics by EMEB (School of Bicycle Mechanics). At Maitantbikes, I am the person in charge of reviewing, repairing and preparing each bike, whether for sale, rental or workshop services that we offer daily.
Maitantbikes is born from this double vocation: share routes and adventures on two wheels, and take care of every technical detail so that your experience is comfortable, safe and exciting. Our base is in Sort, but our routes explore all the Pallars, from forested paths and panoramic paths to epic descents that will delight the most intrepid.
Whether you are looking for a family excursion, a couple trip with electric bicycles or a pure hardening adventure, at Maitantbikes you will find a tailor-made proposal, with close treatment, professionalism and a deep respect for the natural environment.
Because for me living in the mountains is not just a choice: it is a way of understanding life. And sharing it with you, by bike, is the true engine of this project. Maitantbikes aspires to consolidate itself as a local and regional reference in mountain biking and sustainable mobility, promoting a model of active and respectful tourism with the environment. We project ourselves as a company rooted in the mountains, capable of offering unique experiences on two wheels, based on technical quality, personalized attention and love for the territory. We want to contribute to the sustainable development of the Pallars Sobirà by making cycling a way to explore, connect and transform the way we live and move through nature. As an expression of sustainable, civic and healthy tourism.

Our mission is to offer a comprehensive, accessible and quality service that includes everything from the rental and sale of bicycles to specialized technical maintenance, including guided, self-guided routes and close and personalized accompaniment. At MaiTantBikes, our priority is always to customize your route so that it adapts perfectly to your preferences and needs, allowing you to fully enjoy the High Pyrenees.
- Self-guided Route:
If you prefer the freedom to explore at your own pace, we provide you with the GPS track of the itinerary so that you can follow the path without complications. In addition, before departure, we will provide you with all the necessary explanations and recommendations so that your adventure is safe and pleasant. - Guided Route:
For a truly immersive experience, count on the expert company of our mountain bike guides. They are “Good connoisseurs” or “Good connoisseurs of the Natural Park of the High Pyrenees”, accredited by their deep knowledge of the territory. With them, the outing becomes a unique experience: without worries about losses, without the need to review the mobile, and with the opportunity to discover magnificent details of nature, culture and local history, learning to love and respect this privileged environment.
The rental of one of our bicycles includes everything essential for your safety and comfort:
- The bike selected and reviewed by our workshop.
- Helmet with MIPS system, for superior protection.
- Reflective vest or bracelets (in case of road sections), for greater visibility.
- Basic tools and repair kit (for small unforeseen events en route).
In addition, our bicycles are equipped with bottle holders.. However, for obvious hygiene reasons, the bottles are personal and non-transferable. If you wish, you can purchase new bottles in our store.
Yes, a pre-authorization will be made for bicycle rental on your bank card. This pre-authorization will be automatically cancelled once we have checked the correct condition of the bicycle on the way back. You can consult more detailed information about the conditions of the deposit in our Rental Terms and Conditions.
We want you to enjoy your bicycles as long as possible and in the safest way, framed in nature. For this reason, we offer one transport service to approach and collect bicycles directly to the starting and ending point of your route.
- If in addition to the transport of the bicycles, you need to be transported, it is essential that you notify us in advance. In this way, we can manage the right type of vehicle for your travel.
- For safety and maintenance reasons, the transport of our rental bicycles is not allowed in vehicles outside MaiTantBikes or those expressly authorized by our team.
- Please note that these transport services have an extra cost.
Of course you do! You can rent our bikes for several days. To find out about the special long-term rental conditions, please contact our team directly.
Our region is mountainous, with constant slopes and sections that require expert bike handling. The terrain can be stony, with loose stone, sand, slippery, or mud if it has rained. Pedaling on the mountain is very different from doing it by city, so it is required previous experience at MTB to enjoy safely.
As for the material, we recommend you to bring:
- Sun protection (sun cream, sunglasses).
- Enough water for the entire route.
- Snacks or food to recharge energies, especially on longer routes.
- Something warm and a raincoat (mountain weather can change quickly).
- Gloves (very advisable for adherence and protection).
- Footwear suitable for cycling and walking in irregular terrain.
- Comfortable and breathable clothing for pedaling.
We’re glad you’re having such a good time! If you want to extend the time of your rental:
- For enjoyment (before delivery time): You will have to consult us to verify availability. It is possible that the bike is already reserved for other people in the following hours. If available, you will only have to pay the difference until the full day fee.
- For delay (more than 20 minutes late): In this case, it will be applied to you and you will have to pay the difference automatically until the full day rate.
We have 24-inch e-MTB, which are designed to be used by people over 8 years old, according to the instructions of the bicycle manufacturer.
The battery life of an e-MTB is variable and a fixed duration cannot be set. Depends on several key factors:
- The accumulated slope of the route (the more climbs, the more consumption).
- The level of assistance you use (Eco, Tour, Sport, Turbo; the more assistance, the less autonomy).
- The weight of the person who drives it.
Our guides can give you recommendations to optimize their use on route.
- A “normal” MTB Guide consists of having an expert who will accompany you and lead the route, control the group and guarantee a safe and rewarding experience, focusing on the route.
- An Interpretative guide It goes one step further. In addition to the above, our guide or expert guide in Good connoisseur of the Natural Park It will interpret the territory during the route at all levels: nature, culture, history, geology… With each pedal, you will discover secrets and curiosities that will transform your vision of the landscape!
The availability of services varies greatly depending on the route:
- Some routes pass through mountain refuges or villages where there are bars and restaurants at the beginning or the end.
- Other routes are wilder and do not have these services, not even with drinking water points.

Mobile phone coverage depends on the zones. In remote mountain areas, you may not have signal. For your safety, we strongly recommend downloading the applications. My112 and Ariadna on your mobile. They will be very useful to locate (and be located) connection points and the nearest Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) in case of emergency.

- In case of damage to people and/or flora/fauna: Try to contact 112 immediately to manage emergency services and optimize the necessary assistance.

If you detect that any element of the rental bike has been damaged during your route, please contact us immediately. It is crucial that you notify us as soon as possible so that we can assess the situation and decide how to resolve it, guaranteeing your safety and that of the material.
That’s right! At MaiTantBikes, we value flexibility. You can hire the services and products that interest you most individually, combining them according to your preferences to create the perfect experience.
All our routes take place in protected areas, mainly in the Alt Pirineu Natural Park (PNAP). It is essential to always remember and respect the specific regulations of the Natural Park, which seeks to preserve its unparalleled natural and cultural value. Our guides are aware of this regulation and will inform you about it.
It is very likely that you will have the opportunity to see wildlife during your route, as long as you circulate silently and respectfully with the environment. If you are a observer lover, we advise you to bring binoculars to be able to see birds or other animals closer.
